HIMSS was a blast! What was your very best little bit?

Properly, my very first HIMSS was really a fantastic expertise. The group did them selves proud and it was actually intriguing to discuss to hundreds of buyers and companions who want to do something new in wellness and can see methods in which we can aid. I also learned a lot from those conversations, and will feed that back into our product teams – so many thanks to all the individuals that came more than to see us and informed us what they needed. It does make a difference, you know.

WP_20130306_002We believed prolonged and challenging about how very best to have interaction with buyers at HIMSS this calendar year and made a decision that the greatest thing we could do would be to permit as numerous individuals touch and use as a lot of products as feasible. We obtained all the latest and finest Windows eight products from our associates like Acer, HP, Dell, Asus, Sony, Motion and Lenovo, and set up a bunch of great Windows 8 health applications like Greenway’s PrimeMobile, CDC, AHRQ, UpToDate, and Johnson &amp Johnson’s Digital Health Scorecard, as effectively as all the most current Place of work 365 data. We also took the choice not to tether the devices to the desks as that actually does destroy the enjoyment of a really cellular device, and I am quite happy to say we still left with all the units we arrived with :) JACO UltraLite 100 with Microsoft Surface Win 8

We spoke to hundreds of clients and companions over the 3 times, and it was very fulfilling to listen to everyone discuss about the prerequisite for mobile devices to be secured and managed, as properly as getting engaging to use by clinicians and other health end users. A easy point like the Lenovo Thinkpad two fitting in a regular white coat pocket constantly reminds me of how essential it is to believe about the particulars of the genuine consumers who are going to use a unit.

It was also interesting to see the acceptance that new cell products are starting to get in overall health – see for instance the Jaco UltraLite 100 Pill (proper) that was specially established up for Microsoft Surface area units – rapid to click on the device in and then click on the device out later on when you need to just take it with you. These sorts of accessories are vital in overall health – so it was fantastic to see.

WP_20130303_002There had been several other issues that caught my interest at HIMSS, aside from the pure scale of the location (which even now astounds me). Pursuing on from Dr Bill’s observations previous year – huge screens ended up even now massive (if you excuse the pun) – we had an 82” touchscreen that we had been demoing on – and it was a actually valuable tool to be ready to display items to big teams of individuals. We experienced a amount of comments how it would be a excellent teaching help, and distinct desire from teams who were placing up new “showcase” wards or amenities. I also lost count of the quantity of moments we ended up questioned if you can engage in Angry Birds on it (the solution is indeed, btw). On the remaining is a image of me in front of a new and interesting Home windows eight EMR from Pariscribe that we showed to quite a handful of buyers. Once again – intriguing to see the reaction to apps that are significantly far more visually immersive than clinicians have formerly witnessed.

The most astonishing concern I received in the three times of booth responsibility was from a guy who wanted to know if we have been the firm who experienced “digitized” the human human body – prompted by an anatomy picture we experienced on the wall in one element of our booth. Clearly Microsoft is not as acquainted a identify as I thought!

What was the most interesting thing you observed at HIMSS? I would love to get your insight as seasoned HIMSS attendees.

Thanks

Gareth

Hello ho, Hi ho, it is off to HIMSS we go…..

Hello all

&#thirteen

It is a genuine honor to cover for Bill even though he is off on his nicely-earned sabbatical. The timing could not be better –HIMSS 2013 Annual Conference and Exhibition I go away for HIMSS tomorrow, and I am actually hunting ahead to it. In spite of working in and close to healthcare for thirteen of my 18 years since University, I have in no way been to HIMSS (currently being largely Uk focused previously). I am genuinely eager, therefore, to compare it to my fond reminiscences of exhibits in Harrogate (United kingdom audience will know what I mean). At HIMSS, there will be close to 35,000 people who are looking for the following great “thing” in wellness IT and I am expecting to have my assumptions challenged and to find some truly interesting things there.

From our level of look at, we will be there to make confident we get a likelihood to listen to from the attendees about their recent issues and to see if and how the massive alterations we have made above the very last calendar year to our items and remedies can support. It’s usually truly inspiring (and at times demanding) to hear from individuals who live and breathe this things in hospitals day in and working day out. It is tough to provide IT that is equally great to use AND secure and workable – and it will be really intriguing to see the client reaction to how we see issues shifting forward, as nicely as to discover from the attendees what is and isn’t genuinely critical.
